Launceston Community Legal Centre

Mrs Armitage (Launceston) - Mr President, the Launceston Community Legal Centre was established in 1986 with the aim to provide quality legal advice to the most vulnerable in the community. A not-for-profit organisation, it had 1700 client cases in 2015-16 and information was provided to a further 1100 people. Over 1200 of the clients seen last financial year earn $20 000 or less. The centre does not represent people in court but rather does the groundwork for them. Supplementary question about Tasmanian Health Service

Mrs Armitage (Launceston) to the Honourable Leader of Government in the Legislative Council, Dr Vanessa Goodwin - I have a supplementary question and it is not because there are that many in an acting capacity but I find it unusual that the Government cannot tell me whether someone resides in the north or the south. I do not see how that impinges on their privacy when I have made it clear I do not want their addresses. The question I have, for example, is reside in the north or the south. Haven on Paterson

Mrs Armitage (Launceston) - Mr President, they say it takes a village to raise a child and today I am going to speak about a wonderful Launceston community centre for families in northern Tasmania. Haven on Paterson operates from rooms in UnitingCare's offices in the Pilgrim Uniting Church in Paterson Street and is a multipurpose centre.
