Few of us would not be familiar with the iconic building that houses the Launceston Conference Centre and Door of Hope Christian Church in Launceston. But did you know that 2023 is the 100th anniversary of the building itself? I learned a lot recently about the history of this building and how it came to be what it is today and spoke this week in the Legislative Council about this building and its incredible past.

The 1st Tamar Sea Scouts recently celebrated their 60th anniversary, reflecting on six decades of adventure, community service and youth development, despite recent challenges such as flood damage to their pontoon. The milestone was marked by a well‑attended anniversary dinner and a vibrant open day that showcased scouting activities across all age groups, welcomed a new life member, and highlighted the organisation’s strong growth post‑COVID.
