MOTION: Referral to Government Administration Committee B - Forestry (Rebuilding the Forest Industry

Mrs ARMITAGE (Launceston ) - Mr President, I could echo the words of the member for Elwick. I do not support the amendment because I do not support the original motion. I believe we should start the briefings. I do not know at this stage if the briefings will answer the questions I have. They may, and then we would not need a committee. I would like to start the briefings and have the second reading debate speeches. As noted by the member for Elwick, if there is a need for a select committee, we can move at that time. To have a committee now, before we have had any briefings, is putting the cart before the horse. I cannot support it.
