Ms ARMITAGE question to LEADER for the GOVERNMENT in the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, Ms RATTRAY
[2.51 p.m.]
Can the Leader please advise:
(1) What current formal information sharing arrangements are in place between Tasmania Police and Homes Tasmania?
(2) What formal arrangements were in place previously? Can the Leader confirm that there was previously a memorandum of understanding between both organisations?
(3) If so, when did this MOU lapse?
(4) Are there plans for a new MOU to be put in place in the near future? If so, when can it be expected for this to occur?
ANSWER
Mr President, I appreciate the question.
(1) Tasmania Police has advised: to formally request information from them, Homes Tasmania is required to complete a Right to Information submission outlining the reasoning for the request. A determination will then be made as to whether the release of the requested information is authorised.
(2) No, Tasmania Police has confirmed there has never been a formal memorandum of understanding with Homes Tasmania.
(3) As per the response above, there was no memorandum of understanding.
(4) In addition, the government has asked Homes Tasmania to investigate whether they can enter into a formal memorandum of understanding with Tasmania Police. They do not have a current time frame for this, however, commit to keeping the member informed.
